Few men take care of their shoes. Leather, premium material par excellence, is living, which means time and environment will have impact on it. Leather that hasn’t been nourished will end up cracking and shoes stored without shoetrees will shrink and lose their shape. As it is said "you can judge a man by his shoes", and so it is a shame to neglect taking care of your favourite shoes.
Crespin shoes are handmade in France in the finest tradition with high quality leathers coming from most famous tanneries, which means some minutes of weekly care will allow you to wear them for years.
First, some simple advise to apply on a daily basis:
Always slip your shoes on using a shoe-horn, not to damage seams on the back
Never wear the same shoes two consecutive days, to allow some rest to the leather
Shoetrees will absorb moisture from the leather and retain the shape of your shoes longer
Brush your shoes everytime you remove them to avoid the dust from becoming embedded in leather pores
Leather needs to be regularly nourished
One applicator brush (or an old cotton shirt)
Crème de beauté (polish cream)
Crème délicate (leather conditioner)
Beeswax polish paste (optional)
The following steps must be done before applying care product.
Choose a crème de beauté with a shade slightly darker than the one of your shoes
Put some cream on an applicator brush dedicated to this color, and using circular motion spread it over until it penetrates the leather
Let it dry for a while
Remove cream surplus and polish shoes using a polish brush dedicated to this color
Polish paste to get shiny shoes.

Clean and nourish deeply the leather every 4-5 cream applications.
Put some crème délicate on an old cotton shirt and rub the leather strongly to remove polish paste layers, which will nourish the leather deeply
This technique can lighten the leather color. If you wish to keep the same leather color, it is advised to apply crème de beauté after.
